Tales of the World 2 debut trailer

It’s time for more fanservice! Tales of the World 2 looks to bring even more traditional Tales battles to the handheld. The original looked good, but this sequel looks visually better in our eyes. With free DLC, and tons of characters, this RPG looks like it’ll sweep the Japanese charts yet again.

The insane Fate/Tiger Colosseum Upper MEGAmori Box

This premium edition of the upcoming PSP fighter Fate/Tiger Colosseum UPPER is well … rather much. Called the “Megamori Box,” you are getting a mega-more amount of stuff than you could possibly need. For $95 (via Play-Asia), the package contains the game, a 72-page book filled with interviews and comics, 23 tarot cards, binder, drama CD, and special DVD. This is quite possibly the most fanservice-filled box we could imagine. Too bad we’re unfamiliar with the series — perhaps if you’re a Fate/Tiger fan, this package will have you going nuts.

Divineo’s new 5-in-1 charger stand for PSP does it all

There aren’t usually a lot of devices who can follow through on their claim that they can ‘do it all’. Sure, being able to vacuum and cook up a delicious waffle is interesting, but then your carpet smells like a waffle, too. This is why we’re pretty interested in the potential of this new PSP charger stand — it does it all!
While your PSP charges on the stand, you can listen to music and even play stuff on your TV. It comes with built-in headphone jacks and multi-card slots. It’s essentially got all the functionality of a non-charging PSP, and it’s just under $17. If you’re looking for a charging solution, this might be your cup of tea.

Shamus Young talks about his favorite WoW nitpicks

Most folks are probably at least aware of Shamus Young’s DM of the Rings series. It was the only web comic I’ve ever religiously checked every day, on the off chance the creator was feeling kind and had put up an extra comic. DMotR has long since finished, but Shamus is still out there blogging on various gaming topics.
Shamus started playing World of Warcraft about a month ago, and has been having the same growing pains many of us rookies did in our younger levels. But since Shamus is something of a name in the pen-and-paper gaming Internet circuit, it’s interesting to see what he has to say in his review of WoW.
His first complaint is about low drop rates for quest items — yeah, the eyeless Murlocs of Westfall spring to my mind. Most of the other issues are pretty familiar (bag space, respawns, res sickness). But one that did really stick out for me was a complaint about the in-game day/night cycle. Shamus would prefer a four-hour cycle to Azeroth’s day, so that he could actually see the change. I think it’s a fair point, even if we have heard it before. So, Shamus’s list doesn’t really bring a brand new light to how we view Azeroth, but it’s still an interesting read.

New J-RPG Mimana revealed, looks cliché

From the same folks that brought us brought Japan Solfege: Sweet Harmony, comes a new RPG called Mimana: IYAR Chronicle. Exactly what’s in store here, we’re not sure as our Japanese skills still need some fine tuning. However, this should be interesting to those who can’t get enough J-RPGs with cliché blue-haired heroes and scatterbrained female companions.

Sing along with the Fate/Tiger Colosseum Upper trailer

There are only a few certainties in life. One of them is that an anime fighter will get a sequel, especially if its on PSP. Capcom’s super-deformed fighter based on the Fate/Tiger series is going UP in this sequel. Expect just as much crazy fighting as the original, and maybe some fan-service (considering the franchise’s origins … ). Will this game (and its prequel) ever come out to the US?

LFG sells a Richard plushie, Resto4Life sells t-shirts

The Richard character on the WoW comic LFG seems to be pretty divisive — either you want to rip his guts out, or you just can’t love the guy enough. For both of you, there’s good news: the folks behind the comic have released a plushie of the character, so either you can pick it up and torture it for being such a violent jerk (ah, the irony), or you can love and cuddle the maniac as your own. The item is in pre-order right now, and will supposedly ship in November of this year.
And speaking of things you can cuddle, Resto4Life has some sharp new T-shirts in the mix — they’re rocking a Druid “Waffles” design, and the cheetah-skinned “Warsong Flag Carrier” (man I hate those sneaky Druids in WSG), but the best is the “Doncha wish your boyfriend cast ‘hots’ like me” shirt — I don’t know any boyfriends that would actually wear it, but it made me chuckle. Awesome to see these great fansites hopping with cool swag.

Neth lays down answers on Wrath release, leaks

Nethaera was in an answering mood this weekend — she opened up a few cans on all kinds of player questions, and clarified a few answers we weren’t so thrilled with before. The biggest question, of course, was the release date for Wrath, and rather than just giving the usual “soon” answer, Neth actually made sure to say that Blizzard has definitely not finished the game yet.
She also gave a much better answer about why Blizzard is opposed to the leaking of talent data from the game. Before, all we heard was that leaking the data was “extremely offensive and inappropriate” (that comment’s been deleted from the forums, actually). And this time around, Neth is much more reasonable — the reason they don’t want data leaked is because they want players to theorycraft from gameplay, not from talent data. Of course, that still doesn’t mean hearing about the data earlier is a bad thing, for the players or devs, but she has a point — reading talent data isn’t the same as playing the class.
Other than that, the questions aren’t too great. People ask if Blizzard is going to do anything original, and of course they are — Blizzard’s great ideas don’t come out any sooner than “when they’re ready,” but when they do, they’re almost always groundbreaking and fun. It’s completely understandable that Wrath is taking their focus, and while yes, the waiting is always the hardest part, Blizzard has never shown us that the wait for their games is anything less than worth it.
